Terms and Conditions
Article 1 – Scope
These Terms and Conditions govern registration on our website https://www.avl.lu.
Article 2 – Definitions
The following terms are defined as follows:
- AVL: The Akademischer Verein d’Lëtzebuerger a.s.b.l., connecting students from and in Aachen and acting in accordance with its current statutes.
- Ancien: Any person who has been a member of AVL for at least one year.
- AVLer: Any person holding a valid membership card and who has completed the AVL baptism.
- Sale Bleu: Any person holding a valid membership card who has not yet completed the AVL baptism.
- Member: Any person fulfilling the conditions of Ancien, AVLer, or Sale Bleu, and who is therefore entitled to register on avl.lu.
Article 3 – Legal Information
The Akademischer Verein d’Lëtzebuerger Aachen a.s.b.l. (translated as Cercle des Étudiants Luxembourgeois à Aix-la-Chapelle), hereinafter referred to as AVL, has its registered office at 2, Avenue de l’Université, L-4365 Esch-sur-Alzette. The association is registered in the Luxembourg Trade and Companies Register under number F3678.
Article 5 – Website Registration
- Registration is open to all members holding a valid membership card. By signing the membership card, the future member confirms that they have read and accepted the AVL statutes.
- Registration on avl.lu requires certain information to be provided. Any information explicitly requested may be stored and internally managed by AVL. AVL may also store the registrant’s IP address, registration date, and registration time.
- By registering on avl.lu, the member agrees to receive the AVL communiqué twice per year (once per semester).
- The member also agrees to receive forwarded emails from third parties related to AVL, including sponsor job offers, internship opportunities, and informational emails from ACEL a.s.b.l. regarding inter-circle activities and student-life-related topics.
Article 6 – Image and Audio Material
- Every member agrees that image and audio recordings may be created during AVL activities. This material may be edited and published on avl.lu by the AVL committee.
- Members objecting to Article 6.1 must explicitly inform a committee member before the activity begins.
- Sale Bleus have limited access to image and audio material. Full access is granted upon completion of the AVL baptism.
- Except as provided in Article 6.3, image and audio material is accessible only to members.
- Members with access may download material. AVL assumes no responsibility for misuse of downloaded material.
- Existing image and audio material from previous AVL websites has been transferred to the current website. AVL assumes no responsibility for misuse of such archived material.
- Material published on avl.lu may be used by the committee for publications and shared with third parties.

This includes:
- a. Publication of “Um Karel” in print and PDF form, published twice yearly;
- b. Use in articles published on avl.lu in AVL’s interest;
- c. Use on public platforms as event covers or promotional posts.
- Members may upload image and audio material to avl.lu. By doing so, they transfer usage rights to AVL.
- Uploaded material is reviewed by committee members before publication. Material deemed offensive or illegal will not be published and may be deleted.
- Members may request deletion or anonymisation of inappropriate or personally offensive material by contacting comiteavl.lu.
- Publications containing image and audio material remain available after membership termination as defined in Article 9.
Article 7 – Data Protection
- AVL’s Privacy Policy is available at https://www.avl.lu/en/dateschutz/.
- Acceptance of these Terms implies acceptance of the Privacy Policy.
- AVL undertakes all reasonable efforts to comply with GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679).
- AVL may transfer data to subcontractors within the European Union. All subcontractors are contractually bound to confidentiality under GDPR.
- Members may request correction of their data by emailing comiteavl.lu.
- Members may modify personal information and change passwords at any time through their account.
- Members may request deletion of their account data via email or directly through their account settings. This may result in loss of access to avl.lu.
- Members may request a complete copy of their stored data. Doing so results in termination of membership.
- Members agree that name, address, and date of birth may be shared with third parties where required for exceptional events.
- Except as described in Article 7.9, no personal data is shared with third parties.
Article 8 – Amendments
AVL reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Members must accept amended Terms to continue using the service. Members who disagree may request account deletion by email.
Article 9 – Duration
This agreement enters into force upon registration and remains valid until the member requests account deletion.
Article 10 – Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Luxembourg law.
