Privacy Policy
By using the AVL website (www.avl.lu), certain information about you is stored. Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), the European data protection law, you have a number of rights. By visiting the AVL website or becoming a member of AVL, you accept this Privacy Policy.
The information we store depends on whether you only use the website or whether you are an AVL member.
Use of the Website
Each time you visit the website, we store information for statistical purposes. Before storage and analysis, all collected data is anonymised. It is therefore no longer considered personal data. For this reason, it is not possible to request deletion of such data, as it can no longer be linked to a specific user. We do not use external services for statistical analysis, but only an internal system fully designed in compliance with the GDPR. Users may also enable the “Do Not Track” function in their browser, and our system will respect this setting.
We store the following information permanently for statistical purposes:
- Anonymised IP address
- Browser and operating system information (“User-Agent”)
- Time of access
We store the following information for security purposes for the legally required retention period:
- IP address
- Time of access
AVL Membership
If you are an AVL member, we store the following information about you:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Password (hashed, therefore NOT stored in plain text)
- Date of registration
- Date of last login
- Field of study
- Start of studies
- University / higher education institution
- Phone number
- Postal address
- User settings
- Whether and when you completed the AVL baptism
- Dates of membership fee payments
Most of this information can be deleted using the corresponding function in the user panel. However, some information is legally required for AVL membership. If a member wishes to have this information deleted, they must contact the committee. Doing so will result in termination of membership.
Under the GDPR, you have, among others, the following rights:
- The right to be informed about data processing and storage (Articles 12–14)
- The right of access to stored data (Article 15)
- The right to rectification of stored data (Article 16)
- The right to erasure of data (Article 17)
